New Google Chat Feature

Being able to chat with your customers is a new feature on Google My Business & it’s currently available to a select group of businesses. It is considered a pilot feature which means it’s being tested & not all businesses have been invited to set this up within their Google My Business account.

Google My Business now allows you to text directly with your customers who find your business listing on Google search. Being able to correspond with customers, can help you answer their questions, share more information about your business and even attract more people to your business.

Google Chat Feature

Before setting this up within your account, there are some things you’ll want to know:

  • You must provide your cell phone number or manager’s cell phone number in order to utilize this – unfortunately we are unable to manage this for you.
  • It will be crucial for you to be able to respond to customers in a timely manner – so you’ll want to designate this new feature to a person who will be very responsive
  • If you do not respond in a timely manner, you may be suspended from the pilot
  • The chat feature is turned on during business hours & turned off when the shop is closed
  • You can turn off this chat feature at any time if it is too hard to manage or you are not finding it useful for your business

If this is something that interests you, contact your account manager to see if it’s available on your account. It’s simple to set-up. We will need your cell phone number you’ll want to use for chat, then you with get a code via text to confirm the set-up. You will share the code with your account manager to input into the computer & you’ll be all good to go!
