IP Address and Site Visits

A dealer recently asked about his employees visiting their website and how that affects their site visitor count on their reports.  The answer is we count visitors who come to the site one time.  If the employee returns frequently, they’re put in the “repeat visitor” column and not counted as a new visitor again.

But to block all of the dealer employee visits from showing up in the reports, we should get your IP address (each computer network connected to the Internet has one) and block all visits from your employees.  And just so you know, Upright Tire blocks their IP’s since we’re visiting your sites on an almost daily basis!

You may or may not be familiar with how to find your IP address, but it’s easy.  Just follow the simple instructions below:

  1. Go to the computer that you’re retrieving the IP for
  2. Open up your website browser, like Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox and visit this website: http://www.whatismyip.com/
  3. Your IP will automatically appear, write it down and head over to the next computer station
  4. Keep collecting the IP’s for each computer and once all are collected, email your account manager with all the numbers (often, all computers you check on the same network will have the same IP address).
  5. And you’re FINISHED!  We will update you when we add all your IP addresses into our platform.
