How to Succeed on Facebook without Really Trying

2014 was a big year for social media with many businesses joining the trends of Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other popular social media platforms. Many use this as a way to personalize their business and connect with potential customers. So how can you stand out amongst the hundreds of other businesses?

Well my advice is simple: KNOW YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

This concept is much simpler than you may think. Each town, city, state, country and county is distinctly different from one another. Each has something that creates its identity and your customer base also has something that makes it unique. For example living in a town with a lake that is popular every summer differs from living at the base of a mountain range. I know, you’re probably thinking, “duh, this isn’t rocket science.”

So when you are posting for your business put yourself in your target audience’s shoes. Ask yourself these questions:

Is it business appropriate?

Will it offend anyone? (Keep to the dinner table rule of no religion or politics generally)

Is it entertaining?

                Is this something you yourself would click on, share, comment on, and laugh at?

Remember when posting that it should be 20% business and 80% entertaining/engaging!

And have fun with it! Searching fun sites like Mashable and Buzzfeed can always provide entertainment so enjoy your social media accounts!
