Facebook Update: Thumbs Down

Have you heard the latest Facebook news? Facebook will start to roll out a form of a dislike button! It’s not totally clear if it will be a dislike button but it will be a way for users to say, ‘I don’t like that.’ There isn’t a set date for the roll out but Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, announced in an interview that Facebook is ‘working’ on adding a dislike button.

In 2007, the like button popped up and since then users have been asking for a dislike button. Zuckerberg acknowledges that not every moment is a good moment and users want to be able to empathize with friends.  For years Facebook has been against adding the dislike button because it could create negativity, bullying or downgrading postings.

What does this mean for us? It’s better to be prepared! Whatever the button may be, we will be prepared. This will give business pages a better idea of what works and doesn’t work based off of the likes or ‘dislikes.’ The roll out will be ready for testing soon and if that’s a success than it will be rolled out to users. Don’t get too excited, it takes time for these features to be developed. Zuckerberg said himself, “It’s surprisingly complicated.”
